Relocating to Reading - Young engineers at Occuity

The Reading region represents a fast-paced, thriving community of businesses with prime transport links, a world-class university and a growing economy.

Occuity was pleased to welcome Reading's Economy and Destination Agency to its iconic office location, The Blade, to meet with some of our team to discuss the advantages of moving to Reading, and what the city has to offer from both a professional and social perspective.

Jade Smith joined Occuity's engineering team more than two years ago having spent her university years living in London, where she graduated with a Master's degree in Biomedical/Medical engineering. She only very recently decided to relocate to Reading, after having previously spent one and half hours commuting to work, she is very happy to now be within walking distance of Occuity's offices. She also comments:

"We have a great team here at Occuity and it is really exciting technology that we are creating. I really think you can start your career outside of London for hands-on engineering, London may not be the best place for that."

Matthew Brazier is one of Occuity's newest engineering recruits, his experience in design, manufacturing and testing coupled with his interest and passion for sport, healthcare and its effect on the human body, makes him a great fit for Occuity. He completed his Masters's degree in Sports Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University, however, despite being based in Sheffield at the time of his recruitment, Matt also decided to relocate to Reading. Matt comments that not only does he have a great work-life balance but says he has "never looked back".

Looking for a career where you can make a difference? As we continue to grow, we are recruiting for several roles in engineering, recruitment and quality management. Check out our careers site to find out more.
