Occuity Named Great British Innovator of the Year

Occuity has been named Great British Innovator of the Year at the national Great British Business & Community Awards 2026.

The award was presented at a packed ceremony at the Crowne Plaza in Marlow on Friday, 25 September, bringing together businesses, entrepreneurs, charities and community organisations from across the UK.

Occuity was selected as the winner from 30 strong contenders in the Innovator of the Year category, recognising the company’s work developing handheld, non-contact optical devices that are designed to make healthcare screening and monitoring easier, safer and more accessible.

From regional winner to national recognition

Earlier this year, Occuity was named Innovator of the Year at the Thames Valley Business & Community Awards. That regional success secured the company’s place at the Great British Business & Community Awards national final.

Winning the national award represents another important recognition of Occuity’s technology, its growing product range and the team working to turn complex optical science into practical healthcare devices.

Occuity’s technology platform has already delivered the PM1 Pachymeter, the world’s first handheld, non-contact pachymeter. The company is now advancing the AX1 Axiometer for axial length measurement, alongside a wider pipeline of devices exploring how the eye can provide valuable information about both ocular and systemic health.

An inspiring evening

The awards ceremony had a fantastic atmosphere, with a real sense of excitement and energy throughout the evening.

The opening awards celebrated organisations and individuals working within the charity and community sectors. Hearing about the work being carried out by these organisations was both inspiring and humbling, and provided an important reminder of the impact that dedicated people can have within their communities.

The evening also raised money for charitable causes through a raffle, auction and other fundraising activities.

For Occuity, the event provided an excellent opportunity to reconnect with established contacts, build new relationships and meet inspirational people from a wide range of organisations. This included several promising new connections within the medical and healthcare sectors.

While the award carries the Occuity name, it reflects the combined contribution of the company’s engineers, scientists, designers, commercial team, clinical collaborators, manufacturing partners, distributors, investors and supporters.
