Opening Doors: A Memorable Day for Occuity

Yesterday was another of those days that reminds me just how far we’ve come as a company - and how much potential still lies ahead.

Lancaster House

Doors are continuing to open. It began at Occuity HQ, where we were delighted to welcome Beth White, Deputy Director of the Office for Life Sciences – Trade, International and Exports. Beth’s visit followed on from my recent trip to India as part of the UK's historic Trade Mission, and it was fantastic to continue those conversations back on home soil.

We showed Beth around the offices and labs, demonstrated our latest handheld optical devices and discussed what the  government can do to  continue to support innovative UK businesses like ours as we grow and expand internationally. It was a really positive discussion, and we identified a number of opportunities we’ll be following up on.

Later in the day, we also hosted a potential investor group at our offices. We introduced them to our technology platform and shared our vision for how our non-contact optical devices could change the way diseases such as myopia, diabetes and Alzheimer’s are detected and monitored.

Then, in the evening, I had the privilege of attending a celebration of UK–India relations at Lancaster House.

It's not the sort of place I go regularly, so walking through those grand, historic halls was genuinely inspiring. Lancaster House is steeped in history — a place where generations of leaders, innovators and diplomats have gathered — and standing there representing Occuity, I felt an immense sense of pride.

It was a great event; a reminder of how our work at Occuity connects to something bigger — not just our company’s growth, but the broader story of how British innovation is helping to build global relationships and improve lives.

The evening was beautifully organised (I enjoyed a few tasty canapes!), and the speech .from David Lammy which focused on the great history we have with India and how many opportunities there are for us was well received. It was also a wonderful chance to reconnect with many of the people I met during the India trade mission and continue to build relationships that I hope will lead in the future to yet more doors being opened for Occuity.

Days like this can be long, but they’re also rewarding. Seeing our technology spark real interest — from government, from investors, and from international partners — reinforces why we do what we do.

At its heart, Occuity is about using innovation to make healthcare simpler, fairer and more accessible. And standing in a room like Lancaster House, surrounded by people who share that vision on a global scale, really brings that purpose home.
