Occuity is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious title of National Medtech & Healthtech StartUp of the Year at the UK StartUp Awards, held at Ideas Fest in Tring. Having already secured the regional title for the South East, Occuity competed against eight other exceptional regional winners in the national final.
The event, hosted at Ideas Fest, featured talks from business leaders including BrewDog founder, James Watt and showcased some of the most innovative startups in the UK, with Occuity standing out for its revolutionary approach to health diagnostics using optical technology.
A Visionary Approach to Healthcare
Occuity's CEO & Co-founder, Dr. Dan Daly, and Dr. Emily J. Patterson, the company’s latest Future Leaders Fellow, were on hand to accept the award. This recognition comes as the company’s pioneering work in Oculomics—using the eye as a non-invasive window into overall health—continues to gain industry attention. Occuity's technology is at the forefront of diagnostics, enabling earlier detection of chronic conditions such as diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease through a simple, contact-free scan of the eye.
“We are absolutely delighted to receive this national award,” said Dr. Dan Daly. “This recognition highlights the transformative potential of our technology. At Occuity, we believe that the eye can provide a gateway to understanding a range of health conditions, and it’s exciting to see this vision recognised on a national stage.”
Leading the Way in Oculomics
Occuity’s advancements in Oculomics were recognised by the judges. This emerging field involves using the eye as a window to the health of the body, to detect markers for systemic diseases, revolutionising how we diagnose and monitor conditions that impact millions globally. The technology promises a future where healthcare is not only more accessible but also less invasive, a core part of Occuity’s mission.
With a pipeline of innovative devices, Occuity is positioned to continue its upward trajectory, helping to shape the future of medical diagnostics. The company’s first device, which is anticipated to receive its CE mark within the next few days, is the PM1 Pachymeter, an ophthalmic device primarily used to support accurate glaucoma detection.
