With 2021 coming to an end, we thought we’d look back on some of Occuity’s highlights over the past 12 months. From the team doubling in size, to becoming the largest MedTech raise ever on leading a crowdfunding platform, it’s been a busy year.
So here are just a few of our highlights:
Achieving ISO 13485 certification – Our team worked incredibly hard to achieve ISO 13485, the internationally recognised gold standard for quality in the medical device industry. Certification shows our clients and customers that we take quality very seriously here at Occuity.
Showcasing the PM1 at Medica – We enjoyed letting buyers get hands on with the PM1 at Europe’s Largest MedTech Tradeshow.
Building a diabetes community of over 8,000 – We raised awareness of our work on a non-invasive glucose monitor amongst people who are affected by diabetes, and heard from several of them about their experiences of living with the condition.
Raising £2.85m on Crowdfunding platform Seedrs – We gave our community the opportunity to become shareholders in our business, and over 850 investors from over 38 countries joined us on our journey as we became the largest ever MedTech raise on the platform - significantly exceeding our initial target.
Welcoming a large number of new Angel investors as shareholders – It was great to see that our business, technology and mission (to improve the lives of millions of people across the globe) clearly resonated with investors.
Enhancing the business with a several key hires – We have more than doubled our team, strengthening in all departments from engineering to optics, marketing to HR and quality control.
Progressing our work on the Occuity Indigo – Forging ahead with our non-invasive glucose monitor by developing four new desktop prototypes for verification testing.
Identifying an exciting new use for our technology – By reaching out to the ophthalmic community and talking to them about our technology, we’ve identified a new product opportunity – a handheld, non-contact axial length meter for myopia screening and monitoring.
This is excellent progress and our plans for 2022 are equally exciting.
To sign off on 2021, the Occuity team just wants to say a big thank you to everyone who has joined our community and been following our journey. Whether that's been through a simple like or share of one of our social posts, reading up on our blog, or talking about the work we're doing and the products we're developing with their friends.
We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...
