Occuity shortlisted for Health Technology Award at the IET Excellence and Innovation Awards

Updated: Sep 19

The trailblazing technology and innovation behind the AX1 Axiometer™ have catapulted Occuity into the spotlight, earning us a coveted spot as a finalist for the Health Technology Award at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Excellence and Innovation Awards.

Due to launch in 2024, The AX1 Axiometer™ will be the world's first handheld, optical, non-contact meter, capable of measuring axial length quickly, easily and safely. The AX1 will provide optometrists with a superb solution for their need to accurately measure axial length – crucial for monitoring the effectiveness of myopia management therapies.

What makes the AX1 truly exceptional is Occuity's patented optical technology. It harnesses a focused beam of light to delicately scan the eye, collecting reflections from its various surfaces. In a matter of seconds, this device delivers a direct measurement, presenting results on the screen for immediate analysis.

The AX1 Axiometer™ brings a wealth of advantages to optometrists and patients alike. Its portability allows for effortless use in a range of settings, from routine eye care visits to schools and community groups. A standout feature is its non-contact measurement capability, eliminating the need for eye drops to prevent lens accommodation.

Occuity CEO, Dan Daly comments:

"We're excited to be a part of this prestigious event and look forward to continuing our mission of revolutionising healthcare through innovation. Whilst the winners are yet to be announced this recognition is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation in healthcare."

The IET Excellence and Innovation Awards are a celebration of groundbreaking innovations in engineering, science, and technology. In 2023, they're not just recognising excellence and innovation, but also emphasising measurable impact, a long-term view, and incorporating social and environmental impact across all categories.
