Occuity handheld optical pachymeter is planned to launch in 2023.

Updated: Oct 12, 2022

Following on from Occuity's successful investment round, our teams have been hard at work accelerating the development of our first device, a handheld non-invasive optical pachymeter. The device, which will make it quicker, easier and safer for optometrists and ophthalmologists to measure corneal thickness, will provide the measuring and non-contacting capabilities of existing optical desktop devices at a price point more akin to the handheld contacting ultrasound devices.

“Occuity’s mission is to revolutionise the detection of glaucoma by making it easier, faster and safer. There is nothing else like our product on the market and it is the result of many years of R&D from an exceptional team of biomedical engineers.”

Founder and CEO Dr. Dan Daly

An advanced prototype of the handheld pachymeter is undergoing in-house testing and we are finalising the production version that will undergo clinical trials and CE marking late in 2022. We expect the pachymeter to be available at the end of 2023.

The Occuity pachymeter’s non-contacting design and patented optical technology will deliver a number of key advantages over existing treatment methods, ultimately improving the experience for customers and making it easier and more time and cost effective for practitioners.

  • Handheld and non-invasive, the pachymeter will be easier and quicker to use, as patients will not require eye drops

  • The process will be COVID-19 safe as there is no contact with the cornea thereby eliminating all risk of corneal damage or infection transmission between patients.

  • Procedure times will be drastically reduced by the optical technology which provides a measurement in under 10 seconds.

  • Measurements can be administered by non-clinicians.

After the launch of the pachymeter, Occuity will use its novel optical technology to deliver further handheld devices which can be used to make other optical measurements such as keratometry, pupillometry and anterior chamber depth.

With the Occuity Pachymeter set to revolutionise the pachymeter market, we're offering an exclusive launch offer to a limited number of pre-qualified customers.
