For the series "a chat with the team": Matthew Brazier, Junior Engineer

Updated: Sep 20, 2023

Occuity proudly welcomed Matthew as a Junior Engineer in June 2022, his background in mechanical engineering, design for manufacture and sports engineering, is what makes him a perfect fit for our engineering team.

Here are a few words from him about his experience at Occuity and what the future of Occuity looks like to him:

When did you get involved with Occuity? Why did you feel it was the right thing for you?

I wanted to use my engineering experience and interest in medical technology, to help solve problems that are faced by people every day. So when I saw this role advertised, my eyes lit up and I feel like I fit in from day one.

What do you think about Occuity’s work so far?

The rate at which innovations and developments have been made at Occuity is endlessly impressive to me. Although only a young company, the variety of backgrounds make it feel very experienced in the field.

What do you do and why is it important?

My role is mainly as a design engineer. I am heavily involved in designing and making prototypes, jigs, and fixtures for building and testing devices, as well as auxiliary products like the packaging. These things are very important for developing the products and ensuring that they are safe for the customers, as well as creating a positive user experience.

Which project/device most excites you and why?

AX1, as I will be heavily involved right from the start as it is ramping up. I cannot wait to get stuck in with some complex optics.

What do you think will Occuity’s future look like?

I think the future is very bright. There’s so much going on and a big splash that we can make in the industry!
