Martin Newman is a highly skilled manufacturing technician who has recently joined Occuity. With over 15 years of experience in the medical devices sector, including the past 3 years in the drug development industry, Martin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role.
At Occuity, Martin will be working closely with Ahmed on the optomechanical assembly of the PM1 Pachymeter, which is soon to launch. In addition to collaborating with the engineering and quality teams, Martin will actively participate in root cause analysis (RCA) to overcome and resolve any atypical events that may arise during the manufacturing process.
With his impressive track record, diverse range of abilities and passion for making a positive impact in the medical field, Martin has already proved to be a valuable addition to Occuity's manufacturing team.
We had a chance to catch up with Martin and reflect on his experiences being part of the leadership team at Occuity and what project excites him the most.
How did you get involved in Occuity and why did you feel it was the right thing for you?
I heard about the opportunity at Occuity via LinkedIn, and after viewing the website I knew I had to apply for the position. I was very impressed by Occuity’s achievements in such a short time and the opportunity to join a team in an innovative environment at the time I was looking for my next career move worked out perfectly.
What is your position at Occuity and why is your role important?
I have joined Occuity as a Manufacturing Technician, building the PM1 pachymeter devices. I feel my role is important to help deliver our ambitious growth plans and the ideal opportunity to draw upon my previous experience in fast-paced and complex technical manufacturing environments.
What excites you the most about your job and Occuity?
Occuity is an ambitious and pioneering ground-breaking company already. I am excited to be part of the team and value the opportunity to be at an innovative company at an early stage of such cutting-edge technology. I really enjoy working with such an enthusiastic and highly driven team.
What do you think Occuity’s future will look like?
I think Occuity has a very clear vision of where it wants to go, and with technological solutions for many healthcare challenges by simply looking in the eye and a range of innovative products that will improve the lives of millions of people. They certainly have the ability to succeed.
